Women’s Committee Annual Music Scholarship Competition Winners

On Saturday, April 23, 2022 the Orchard Park Symphony Women’s Committee held its audition at the Orchard Park Presbyterian Church for the 54th Annual Nan Ackerman Memorial Music Scholarship Competition.


The Women’s Committee of the Orchard Park Symphony is pleased to announce the winners of the 54th Annual Nan Ackerman Memorial Music Scholarship Competition held on April 23, 2022 at the Orchard Park Presbyterian Church. Congratulations to the following recipients:

1st Place Winner : Marc Vredenburg, Cello – Received $800.00
2nd Place Winners who tied: Elizabeth Faust, Clarinet, and Camille Kelly, Viola – each received $600.00

This year’s audition was held in person at the Orchard Park Presbyterian Church on April 23, Each year, since the 1960’s, the Women’s Committee of the Orchard Park Symphony sponsors a Music Scholarship Competition in the amount of $2000.00. Funds are raised through their annual Plant Sale, Car Wash Sale and Chicken BBQ Sale.

Professional Music Adjudicators listen to the students and award scholarships accordingly. The recipients use this scholarship towards music camps, private lessons and even new instruments.


The audition is open to students in 9th – 12th grade who are instrumentalists or vocalists. Eligible students must attend the Orchard Park Central High School or are residents of Orchard Park and attend a public or private school. If you are a member of the Orchard Park Symphony Orchestra, or a member of their immediate family, or sponsored by an OPSO Member you are eligible to apply. If you are a member of the SouthTowns Youth Orchestra you are also eligible.


It is recommended that students competing be a member of their school music organization(s) and perform. The participant must be playing at a NYSSMA Level V or VI or its equivalent.
